Terms of Use
What Layers is, how you may use it, and how billing and disputes are handled.
Terms of Use
These Terms of Use describe what Layers provides, how you may use the service, the responsibilities you accept as a user, and how billing and disputes are handled.
Last Updated: September 2026
Design utility
Layers is a creative design and document formatting tool, not a legal, financial or medical record-keeping system.
As-is service
The service is provided on an as-is basis. We do not warrant that every file format or conversion will produce identical output.
Paddle billing
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com, the Merchant of Record for all our orders. We never collect or store card details in Layers.
No regulated use
You may not use Layers for e-signatures, HIPAA records, tax filings, or any activity requiring certified compliance.
Tier boundaries you agree to
By using Layers you agree to operate within the boundaries of your active tier: Free — 3 file adjustments per 24 hours and a 10MB maximum upload size limit; Plus — $12.99 per month ($9.99/mo billed annually), 15 file adjustments per 24 hours and a 50MB maximum upload size limit; Pro — $24.99 per month ($19.24/mo billed annually), up to 300 cloud conversions per day with a 500MB enterprise upload size threshold. Tool files are deleted instantly after download on every tier; retention windows apply to whiteboard assets only.
Cross-tier bypass exploits are strictly banned. This includes tampering with local counters or plan flags, forging session or entitlement data, cycling throwaway accounts to reset daily quotas, and any automated bot, script or scraper used to consume the service beyond your tier.
Accounts found bypassing tier limits may be suspended or terminated immediately and without refund.
Users hold sole liability for bookmarking their temporary sandbox UUID URLs. Guest board links are unlisted, ephemeral addresses: anyone holding the URL can open the board, and losing the URL permanently loses access to that sandbox. Layers cannot recover, re-issue or restore a lost sandbox link.
Who you are contracting with
Layers is operated by Abdullah Basem, an individual sole trader, trading as Layers.page ("Layers", "we", "us"). When you use the service or purchase a subscription, you are contracting with Abdullah Basem.
You must have the authority to accept these terms — either on your own behalf as an individual of legal age, or on behalf of the organisation you represent.
Agreement to terms
By accessing or using Layers, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use after changes means you accept the revised terms.
What Layers provides
Layers is a secure workspace for document formatting, document adjustment, template design, file-format conversion and whiteboarding, built on a privacy-first architecture utilizing hybrid private processing engines and secure, instant-wipe cloud conversion networks.
Tools run on hybrid private processing engines and secure, instant-wipe cloud conversion networks when you select a cloud format.
We reserve the right to add, modify or remove features at any time.
Accounts and eligibility
You must provide accurate information when creating an account and keep it up to date.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
You must be at least 16 years old to use the service.
Guest mode lets you try features without an account, but drafts and usage counters are tied to the workspace and may be lost if local storage is cleared.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use Layers to process illegal, infringing, hateful, violent, sexually explicit or otherwise harmful content.
You may not attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, overload or interfere with the service.
You may not use Layers as a system of record for regulated activities such as electronic signatures, contract execution, medical records, financial reporting or tax filing.
You are responsible for the content you upload, create or share, and for ensuring you have the right to use it.
AI features and generated output
AI summarising, rewriting, layout, card generation and translation are optional assistive features. You are responsible for the prompts and documents you submit, for having the rights to that content, and for how you use the output.
You may not use the AI features to create illegal content, deepfakes or impersonations, harassment or hate speech, malware, or content that infringes someone else's rights, and you may not attempt to jailbreak, probe or resell the underlying models.
AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete or misleading. It is not professional, legal, medical, financial or tax advice, and it must be reviewed by a human before you rely on it.
We may filter, refuse, remove or restrict content and generated output, and suspend accounts, where we reasonably believe these terms are being broken.
Rights in content you process
You keep the rights in the documents, images and designs you upload or create. You grant us only the limited licence needed to host and process that content in order to provide the features you use.
If you believe content processed or shared through Layers infringes your intellectual property, contact us through the contact page with details of the work and the material concerned, and we will review and remove infringing material where appropriate.
Accounts responsible for repeated or serious infringement will be suspended or terminated.
Subscriptions and billing
Some features require a paid subscription. Plans and pricing are listed on the pricing page.
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.
Payment, billing, tax, cancellation and refund mechanics are governed by Paddle's Buyer Terms, which you accept when you complete a purchase.
Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from your account page or by contacting support; access continues until the end of the paid period.
Refunds follow our refund policy, which offers a 14-day money-back guarantee on paid subscriptions.
Intellectual property
You retain ownership of the documents and designs you create in Layers.
We retain ownership of the Layers brand, code, interface and related intellectual property.
You may not copy, modify or redistribute the Layers application or its assets without permission.
Disclaimers and limitations
Layers is provided 'as is' and 'as available' without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.
Output quality depends on the source file and the conversion engine used.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the twelve months preceding the claim, or zero if you use the free tier.
We are not liable for any loss of data stored only locally in your session.
We exclude liability for indirect, consequential or special losses, including loss of profits, data or goodwill. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or anything else that cannot be limited by law.
Your indemnity
You agree to cover us against claims, damages and reasonable costs arising from the content you process through Layers, your unlawful or infringing use of the service, or your breach of these terms.
Suspension and termination
You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account for material breach of these terms, non-payment, security or fraud risk, or repeated or serious policy violations.
Where practical we will give notice first; for security, fraud or legal risk we may act immediately.
Upon termination, your access to paid features will cease. Data stored locally in your session remains under your control, and boards you own are deleted on the normal retention schedule.
Assignment and events outside our control
You may not transfer your account or these terms to someone else without our consent. We may transfer them as part of a merger, acquisition or business reorganisation.
We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, such as outages at hosting, payment or conversion providers, network failures or acts of government.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where Layers operates, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
Disputes should first be resolved through good-faith contact with our support team.
